In fact, exercise is one of the best ways to make sure that you have enough serotonin and studies have shown that it helps people who suffer with depression.
This is not to say that past trauma and other issues addressed by psychologists are not valid, but good biochemical health will make the task of ending depression or anxiety easier. Something as simple as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause depression.
The medical profession addresses depression and anxiety through biochemical means with the use of drugs. These drugs may be necessary if a patient is in danger of harming him or herself or if quality of life cannot be restored any other way. Even if drugs are being used, balancing the body’s biochemistry with nutrition is still a good idea.
Depression or anxiety can be the result of allergies (which can cause the brain to swell, altering function). It can be the result of a diet that is too high in refined foods and problems handling sugar. It can be caused by nutritional deficiency or a sedentary lifestyle.
